In
January 1953, General Motors introduced the very first Corvette at the
GM Motorama in New York City. The sporty two-seat roadster was an amazing
innovation, and the Corvette concept went into production six months
later to become the first American sports car. In that first year, 300
roadsters were built--every one of them with white with a red interior.
50 years later, a group of automobiles engineers designed a perfect
way to pay tribute to the Corvette legacy by blending ‘50s styling
and cutting-edge C5 technology. They masterfully grafted '53 Vette styling
cues onto a white C5 convertible and reupholstered the interior with
red and white leather.
Basically, the ’53 Retro Corvette is a re-body of an existing
C5 Convertible. The new retro-designed package which includes a new
front and rear fascia, headlights, chrome die-cast grille and bumpers,
hood, fenders, rear quarters, inner and outer decklid, and LED taillights
body (except the doors and top) replacing the original parts. Panels
are bolted on to the existing attachment points. Chrome die-cast side
door spears, brake calipers are painted either in red, black or yellow.
If necessary, a new interior takes the place of whatever interior the
original C5 had and chrome 5-spoke wheels replace the existing wheels.
18- and 20-inch Colorado Custom chrome wheels with 235/40/18 and 275/35/20
will give the ’53 Retro Corvette a distinctly modern custom look.
Besides the "traditional" white/red combination, ’53
Retro Corvettes are available in red, silver, black, Le Mans blue, gold.
